VSCO Cam for iPhone is getting a major redesign today with Instagram-like social features. Users can now follow fellow mobile photographers for updates in a vertical stream. VSCO Cam takes a more minimalistic approach than Instagram, with a flat design and spare looking feed. You’ll have to tap on a photo in order to get more information about the photo and to interact with it.

While similar to Instagram, VSCO Cam does offer more features for amateur and professional photographers. Tapping on a picture will reveal its info like what aperture and ISO the camera was set to. This gives photographers more of an idea of how the shot was composed. VSCO Cam’s social features are still very new, so much so that users cannot comment or “like” photos in this first iteration.

Users may still find VSCO Cam’s curated content more compelling than the noise of photos on Instagram. VSCO Cam’s website is also more fleshed out than Instagram’s. With VSCO Grid, users can view other user’s photos or their own photo timeline. Sharing is much easier too, which is something Instagram is lacking.

Version 3.0 of VSCO Cam also brings along a bunch of improvements and new features like the Level & Tilt tool to help photographers level their photos before sharing. Ordering filters and presets are also much easier, taking only one tap now.

iOS users can get the VSCO Cam update today in the App Store but Android users will have to wait a while longer. The company promises to bring the updated social features to Android “in the near future.”
